Through its HSSE policy, SOMAPORT is committed to protecting the health and safety of its staff members, the integrity of goods and environmental protection. These commitments have the aim of compliance of SOMAPORT activities with the legal HSSE requirements, i.e. the development of a preventive approach to accident risk management, health and environmental protection; permanent improvement of HSSE performance by the devising of HSEE instructions, procedures and measures, as well as the strengthening of training, information and communications about everything dealing with HSSE

This policy entails the coming into play of the following objectives :

• Zero accidents
• Identification and assessment of HSSE risks and the establishment of an array of control designed to reduce all risk factors to an acceptable level.
• Risk assessment will be updated whenever a change in the working environment occurs.
•  The risk of serious danger will form the subject of an in-depth evaluation.
•  Compliance with local legislation pursuant to safety, security and the environment will at all moments be considered as a minimum requirement. Providing HSSE training for all staff members and at all levels is ensured. Recording of the said training will be duly registered and an annual reminder provided
•  Make sure contractors, suppliers and third parties adhere to HSSE rules.
•  Implement HSSE indicators designed to reach our objectives
•  Non-stop improvement of HSSE performance via audits.
•  Consideration of factors in connection with safety, security and the environment in all investment decisions.
•  Ensure the security of persons, goods, infrastructures, items of equipment and ships inside the port facilities of SOMAPORT;
• Respect of wearing individual protection equipment
• Make sure of the application and adherence to good safety practices in conjunction with handling and maintenance operations
•  Provide HSSE training for all members of the personnel and at all levels. Record of the said training will be kept on file and an annual reminder will be provided.
•  Make sure the contractors, suppliers and third parties adhere to HSSE rules.
•  Implement HSSE indicators in order to reach our declared objectives.
• Non-stop improvement of HSSE performance via audits.
• Taking account of all factors in conjunction with security, safety and the environment in connection with all investment decisions;
• Ensure the safety of persons, goods, infrastructures, equipment and ships inside the SOMAPORT port facilities;
• Adherence to the rules for the wearing individual protective equipment;
• Adherence to traffic rules and regulations inside the SOMAPORT port installations;
• Ensure the implementation and respect of good security practices when performing handling and maintenance operations.
